GeoShiftGeolocation & GPS location changer

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 1, 2026

GeoShift is a browser extension that lets you override the location your browser reports to websites. This page explains, in plain language, exactly what the extension does and does not do with your data.

The short version: GeoShift does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. The coordinates you set are stored only in your own browser and are used only to answer navigator.geolocation requests on pages you visit.

1. What GeoShift does

GeoShift changes the values returned by the browser's Geolocation API (latitude, longitude, altitude, accuracy, heading, speed and timestamp) on any site you visit, using the numbers you enter in the extension's settings page or pick on the interactive map. It can optionally bypass the browser's "Allow location access?" permission prompt so pages receive your chosen coordinates immediately.

2. Information we do not collect

GeoShift does not collect analytics, does not use tracking pixels or cookies, does not read the content of the pages you browse, and does not transmit your browsing history, IP address, real location, or any other personal information to us or to any third party. There are no ads and no ad-tracking SDKs in this extension.

3. Where your settings are stored

The coordinates and options you configure are saved locally using the browser's chrome.storage.local API. This data stays on your device, inside your browser profile — it is never uploaded to a remote server operated by us, and it is removed automatically if you uninstall the extension.

4. Permissions we request, and why

PermissionPurpose
storageSave your chosen coordinates and settings locally in your browser.
scriptingInject the small script that overrides navigator.geolocation with your chosen coordinates on the active tab.
webNavigationDetect when a new page finishes loading, so the location override can be applied at the right moment.
contextMenusAdd the optional right-click menu item that opens the interactive map.
Host permission *://*/*Required so the location override can be applied on whichever site you're testing — GeoShift only reads/writes the geolocation values on that page; it does not read page content, form data, or credentials.

5. The interactive map (top.rodeo)

For convenience, GeoShift links to an interactive map at top.rodeo/?action=geo, a tool we also operate, where you can click a location instead of typing coordinates by hand. When you press "send to your extension" on that page, only the latitude and longitude you picked are passed to the extension through your browser — nothing else on that page is read or transmitted by GeoShift. Your use of the top.rodeo website itself is covered by its own terms; GeoShift's content script on that page does one thing only: relay the coordinates you selected.

6. Sharing and third parties

We do not sell, rent, or share any data with advertisers, analytics providers, or other third parties, because GeoShift does not collect any data to share in the first place.

7. Children's privacy

GeoShift is a developer/QA and privacy utility and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, regardless of age.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, note the change in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
