GAD‑7 Anxiety Check‑In

Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 24, 2026

GAD‑7 Anxiety Test ("the extension", "we", "our") is a browser extension that lets you take the GAD‑7 anxiety self-assessment and keep a private history of your results. This policy explains, in plain terms, what data the extension handles and how.

The short version: everything you enter stays on your device. We do not operate a server, we do not collect your answers, and we do not use analytics or advertising of any kind.

1Information we collect

The extension collects only what you enter while taking the test:

  • Your answers to the 7 GAD‑7 questions and the optional functional-impact question
  • The calculated score and severity band for each attempt
  • The date and time each result was saved

We do not collect your name, email address, IP address, location, browsing history, or any other identifying information. The extension does not know who you are.

2How your data is stored

All results are saved locally in your browser using the chrome.storage.local API, provided by Chrome for extensions. This data lives only on the device and browser profile where you took the test.

Stored whereYour browser's local extension storage
Sent to a serverNever
Shared with third partiesNever
Used for advertisingNever
Synced across devicesNo, unless Chrome's own sync settings do so on your behalf

3How your data is used

Saved results are used solely to power features within the extension itself:

  • Showing your score, severity band, and question-by-question breakdown after each test
  • Displaying your history list so you can look back at past check-ins
  • Drawing the simple trend chart across your recent results

We do not analyze, profile, or draw conclusions about you beyond what is shown directly to you in the interface.

4Your control over your data

  • Delete a single result — remove it from the History screen at any time
  • Clear everything — use "Clear all" on the History screen to erase all saved results
  • Uninstall — removing the extension deletes all of its locally stored data from your browser

5Permissions the extension uses

PermissionWhy it's needed
storageTo save your test results locally on your device
sidePanelTo display the test inside Chrome's side panel

The extension requests no host permissions and cannot read or modify the pages you browse.

6Children's privacy

The extension is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children, since it does not collect information from anyone in the first place beyond what is described above.

7Medical disclaimer

The GAD‑7 is a screening tool, not a diagnostic instrument. Results are provided for personal reflection only and do not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Please consult a qualified healthcare professional with any questions about your mental health.

8Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be included with the extension and the "Effective date" above will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the extension after an update means you accept the revised policy.

9Contact

Questions about this policy can be directed to the extension's developer through the contact details listed on its Chrome Web Store listing.
